Miami based footwear retailer Shoe Gallery joins forces with Reebok to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Ventilator running shoe. The project joins a long list of collaborators who have also teamed up with the British sneaker giant to honour the impressive milestone. The shoe, named El Mariel, is inspired by the Mariel boat lift emigration of 1980, which helped thousands of Cubans emigrate to Miami.
The shoe’s upper is constructed from a shiny white patent leather and features perforated areas along the collar and toe box. There is a blue sock liner and footbed lying inside the shoe to imitate the interior of a yacht, while other nautical accents include an anchor on the translucent outsole and a boat registration number embossed on the heel.
