In 1999, 19 year old Dutch architecture student Guillaume Philibert has a passion for sneakers. When he could afford them, Philibert treated himself to exclusive pairs of kicks but found they were often too pricey. There was nothing between streetwear and high-end footwear that he was looking for.
After spotting this niche in the market, he decided to create his own sneaker and began sketching ideas before pitching the idea to childhood friends Hussein Suleiman, Jefferson Osei and Abderrahmane Trabsini, who together made up a creative collective called Daily Paper.
Philibert joined forces with Daily Paper and risked his money to start Filling Pieces. The brand bridged the gap in the luxury sneaker market and was launched at the perfect time.
Daily Paper launched a clothing line alongside Filling Pieces and the two groups of friends helped each other grow. The two fledging businesses travelled the world together moved from strength to strength.
In 2013, the two brands collaborated for the first time on an Indonesian ‘Batik’ themed pack consisting to two low top trainers and two bomber jackets in the same colourway.
Two years after their initial collaboration, the duo are at it again to celebrate friendship, family, and loyalty.
