Ever heard of a Merlion? Neither did we until we found out about this pair of kicks!
PUMA and Singapore based Limited EDT join forces celebrate the country’s 50th anniversary since it gained its independence. Singapore was freed from Malaysian rule in 1965 and has grown into one of the most powerful countries on the planet.
This shoe draws inspiration from the symbol of Singapore, the Merlion. This is a mythical creature with the head of a lion and a body of a fish.
The pair are constructed from unusual textures and materials to resemble the Merlion. For the creatures mane, silver pony hair covers the toe box, while 3M fish scales represent the serpent’s body.
The shoes sit on a speckled white midsole with blue inner lining for added contrast. The look is finished off with a set of red and white laces and red branding on the tongue.
