London based sneaker retailer Foot Patrol team up with ASICS to present a sick new version of the Gel Lyte IIi to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the silhouette. The Footpatrol x ASICS Tiger GEL-LYTE III Squad is the latest in a long line of collaborations with sneaker retailers from all over the globe. ASICS have really pushed the boat out with their 25th anniversary celebrations, and there’s been loads of amazing silhouettes produced as a result. Let’s see if these live up to the hype…
These amazing pictures don’t have a gas mask in there for no reason! It’s actually the logo for the London store, which symbolizes the struggle of Britons during World War II. The people united during those times of hardship, which inspired the idea of the Squad silhouette.
The shoes are dressed in a military inspired olive colourway, accented with subtle uses of gold and black. The pair’s upper is constructed from perforated pigskin, while black suede has been used for the ASICS side stripes.
A Foot Patrol branded insole lies inside the shoe with more branding found on the heel counter embossed in gold. A special touch is spotted on the laces themselves. Spelt in Morse code is ‘Footpatrol GEL-LYTE III’ actually woven into the lace! The shoes sit on a white midsole and the look is finished off with a hairy suede tongue.
