In an exhibition match played in Italy back in 1985, Jordan performed one of the greatest dunks of his career and shattered the backboard. The Air Jordan 1 Retro High Shattered Backboard pay tribute to that dunk and are dressed in the colours of the jersey he wore, team Orange, White and Black. The shoe is crafted with a premium leather and include a graphic insole that references Jordan’s Airness; a glass-shattering backboard.
Here we take a closer look at the shoes which are arriving on 27th June.
The shoes sit on an orange outsole, the same shade that appears on Jordan’s jersey in that monumental game. Above, lies a crisp white midsole which blends into the sidewalls where you’ll find a large black swoosh. The overlay and laces are also in a matching black while the toe box is orange and has perforations for added breathability.
Stateside, these sneakers are going to be released in raffle form due to their huge popularity. Customers in Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and more will have to wait for a link from their respective cities’ Nike Twitter accounts before they can enter and win the chance to buy a pair.
